Prestipino Dental Group is celebrating National Prosthodontics Awareness Week April 8-14th.
Millions of people lose their teeth every year because of trauma, heredity, gum disease (periodontitis) and decay. In fact, nearly one in five adults aged 65 or older have lost all of their teeth. Dental implants can be used to replace individual or multiple missing teeth. Prosthodontists are uniquely qualified to replace missing teeth due to extensive training using state of the art technology and procedures. Prosthodontists are the most highly trained restorative dentists in the country, practicing evidence-based dentistry, which is the reason why you should choose a specialist when it comes to your SMILE. Dr. Prestipino (Figure 1) is a leader and innovator in the field of dental implants. Both he and his late partner Prosthodontist, Dr. Abe Ingber (Figure 1) co-invented and patented the first all Ceramic (Aluminum Oxide) Abutment (Figures 2, 3) for dental implants. This revolutionary idea was the beginning of the Ceramic Abutment Technology in the world as we currently know it. This technology helped to advance the use and development towards CAD/CAM Ceramic Abutments (Zirconia) on the market today.
In addition to celebrating National Prosthodontics Awareness Week, we are also celebrating our unique relationship with our board certified Periodontist, Dr. Tassos Sfondouris. Dr. Sfondouris is trained in regenerative therapies to treat gum disease (periodontitis), gum recession and replace missing teeth with dental implants. Additionally, he completed a Prosthetic fellowship program at the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry. By having both a Prosthodontist and Periodontist working as a team, we combine our expertise to provide solutions to simple and complex dental problems. Our training allows us to we rebuild and maintain your smile for a lifetime! (Figures 4-7)
